Resilience is the ability to come back into connection during times of stress.
As 2025 comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on what a year it has been. Amid all of the challenges—and there have been many, as we witness the cruel impacts of the policies of the current administration—we have also seen glimmers of hope, connection, and resilience.
Andi and I started Origins back in 2017 with a shared vision: that spreading a common language of stress, trauma, and resilience can change how we interact with one another. This is a deeply human experience—one that connects us all. Since then, we have worked with hundreds of organizations to help bring that vision to life and shift culture.
In 2025, we expanded our offerings and launched the Resilience Learning Community. We are deeply proud of the events, workshops, and conversations that have emerged through this space. Leading up to and following the launch, we hosted over a dozen community events that embodied our vision of creating a place to “learn, teach, and connect.”
In addition to our monthly community check-ins and the launch of our Resilience Sandbox, we were honored to hear from:
- A panel discussion on why resilience matters now more than ever, featuring Dana Brown (National Cooperative of Communities, PACEs Communities), Rhonda Fitzgerald (Executive Director, Sustained Dialogue), Rick Griffin (Founder and CEO, NeuroLeadership Academy), and Jesse Kohler (Executive Director, Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice)
- Rick Griffin on how to STAMP resilience into your day
- Steve Brown, Psy.D., Director of the Traumatic Stress Institute, sharing insights from 25 years of implementing trauma-informed systems
- Kara Hunter, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Sacramento City College, on transforming conflict
- Louise Godbold, Executive Director, on the importance of centering survivor voices when implementing trauma-informed practices
One of the questions we often hear is how all of these events and workshops relate to one another. How do we connect the dots between what might seem like very different topics? The common thread weaving through all of this work is a simple and deeply human truth: when we are in our stress response, we show up differently. We lead differently. We parent differently. We engage in conflict differently. It impacts how we connect with ourselves and with others.
As we look ahead to 2026, that thread continues.
We are kicking off the new year in January with a series of powerful offerings. On January 8, Andi Fetzner will lead a vision-boarding experience to help us ground into intention for the year ahead. On January 22, we will hear from George Grombacher as he helps us redefine our personal stories to change our relationship with money. In February, Elvia Garcia will offer a powerful workshop on forgiveness, followed by the launch of our six-part book study series that will include voices of survivors, Stop the Silence® – Thriving After Child Sexual Abuse.
As always, we will continue to offer our monthly community check-ins on the second Tuesday of each month, along with our Resilience Sandbox—a space to connect, practice, and engage in community care together.
